Belizean Dreams and Hopkins Bay Resort score high in national culinary and bartender competitions.

Taste of Belize is the signature culinary event of Belize created by the Belize Tourism Board in an effort to showcase and provide recognition for excellence in the culinary arts, by promoting the food and beverage sector of Belize's tourism industry.

This heavily competitive event brings together participants who compete in categories that include:

  • Professional Chef
  • Young Professional and Apprentice Chef
  • Bartender
  • Cake Decorating

Winners are chosen by a panel of distinguished local and international culinary judges.

This year Belizean Dreams and Hopkins Bay Resort sent two participants to the competition in order to showcase their skills and compute their performance in a group filled with local professionals.

We are proud to announce that our Chef at the Hopkins Bay Resort, Francisco Cano, won the second place in the premier competition, the professional chef’s division. This is an outstanding performance since Francisco, a first time competitor, and a young upcoming chef battled with 12 well experienced chefs in this prestigious competition.
Our restaurant manager, Mariano Coc, went back to his roots and did a splendid job in the professional bartender competition by winning the first price for the 4th time in his career. He blew the competition and the judges away with his showmanship and most important with delicious cocktails. His signature creation the ‘traveler’s juice’ was the overall favorite of a panel of local and international judges and the audience.

Hopkins Bay resort and Belizean Dreams are proud to have these true professionals among their team of excellent staff.
